A morning alarm that argues back

The alarm that won't let you fall back asleep.

Shake N' Bake pairs your wake-up song with a voice that starts talking the second the alarm hits — about the news, a recipe, or anything else you tell it to — until you actually get up.

Inspo for this struck after I hit snooze for the third time one morning. It's so hard to get up — I wished someone could just start talking at me the second my alarm went off, so I couldn't drift back to sleep. So that's what I built. Introducing Shake N' Bake — yes, named after the GOAT movie, Talladega Nights — the app that syncs with your alarm and starts talking at you about anything: the daily news, a trending recipe, or — my version — the top 10 SF coffee shops on Beli, and exactly what to order at each.

How it works

Three things you customize. One thing you can't do — ignore it.

🎵

Your wake-up song

Alarm plays a real Spotify track — pick a favorite, or hand it a link to anything. Fully controllable, not just a chime.

💬

Talk about anything

News, a trending recipe, the best cafés nearby, or something hyper-specific like "top new Beli ratings in Paris." You set the topic.

🗣️

Any voice, any accent

Colloquial and chatty, or crisp and proper. British, American, Australian. Runs on your browser's voice by default, upgrades automatically to a natural AI voice.

My version

A British voice reads me San Francisco's ten best coffee shops.

Every morning, right after my alarm song plays, Shake N' Bake talks me through ten SF coffee shops in a chatty British accent — where they are, and exactly what to order.

Once it's done talking, it hands me a clean visual guide of the whole list — each shop with its own illustrated drink card — so I've still got it for the rest of my day, long after I've forgotten what a British AI told me at 7am.

Under the hood

Built to actually ship, not just demo once.

No framework, no build step — a static front end and a serverless backend that degrades gracefully when a service isn't configured.
